Assignment: Exercise 27

Qn. 6

Ϋ=a+bx

SBP=50.3 + 0.12x

Postnatal age =30hours

The SBP for neonates with weight range between 1,001 and 1,500 grams is:

Ϋ = 50.3 + 0.12 (30) = 53.9 mm Hg

 Qn. 7

Qn. 8

DBP=25.8 + 0.13x

Postnatal age = 30hours

The value Ϋ of for neonates with weight ≤1,000 grams is

  Ϋ = 25.83 + 0.13 (30) = 29.73 mm Hg

 Qn. 9

DBP=30.4 + 0.11x

Postnatal age =30hours

The value of Ϋ for neonates weighing between 1001-1,500 grams

Ϋ = 30.4 + 0.11 (30) = 33.7 mm Hg

 Qn. 10

DBP=30.4 + 0.11x

Postnatal age =60hours

The value of Ϋ for neonates weighing between 1001-1,500 grams

Ϋ = 30.4 + 0.11 (60) = 37 mm Hg

In comparison to the situation where the postnatal age is 30 hours (question 9), the diastolic blood pressure is high i.e. 37 mm Hg compared to 33.7 mm Hg.

  Exercise 40

Qn. 6

There is a significant difference in the working status for the three levels on insurance. The calculated p value is 0.001 which is less than the significance level set at 0.05.

Qn. 7

Null hypothesis for level of insurance by female gender proportion

Proportion of women Insured = I p

Proportion under Medicaid =Mp

Proportion of women Privately Insured = Pp

H0: I p = Mp = Pp

 Qn 8

There is no sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the female gender status for the three levels on insurance (H0: I p = Mp = Pp).

There calculated value of probability is more than 0.05, i.e. less significant.

 Qn. 9

The outcome of the study is as I expected because health outcome is dependent on several factors as status including education, working status, gender, race, and number of members in a household. The majority of the statistical implications of the various agree with the common understanding of the influence of the various factors on health.

Qn. 10

Based on the reason stated on question 9, results of this study should be generalized to include children in other states. However, a confirmatory study, with a high sample size, should be done to give a good picture on factors such as health.
